It, along with the Power Glove, is required to access the Dark World in seeds where you don’t have the Titans Mitts. In addition, it’s required to defeat the boss of Eastern Palace, Helmasaur.

The Hammer is also an extremely short-ranged weapon that deals damage equal to the Tempered Sword. Additionally it is also one of the more common items used with the item dashing glitch.
